The Challenge

The client is a multi-disciplined Engineering and Project Delivery Consultant to the mining, resource and industrial infrastructure sectors. They have a well-defined culture that centres on strong and effective leadership, teamwork where people work cooperatively and productively with others to achieve results and effective communication to ensure messages are clearly conveyed and received.

Mango was engaged to build cohesion of the senior leadership team as they led a painful downsizing and organisational restructure, and to increase their capability to lead and coach their teams through the process. The goal was to be successful in retaining key people during the restructure.

Our Approach

To identify the existing competencies of the senior leadership team, a 360 degree feedback survey was conducted to provide a thorough and detailed assessment report based on 20 universal leadership and management competencies. This assessment was then used to create individual learning and development plans. The 360 feedback tool was used to monitor the effectiveness of these development plans by comparing scores pre and post implementation of the learning and development initiatives.

Following the surveys, several workshops were conducted to build cohesion of the team, develop skills in problem solving and improve coaching skills to help lead their teams through change.

The Outcome

Through this feedback tool, series of workshops and individual coaching the senior leadership team were able to lead their teams through the downsizing and organisational restructure. Key outcomes included:
